we met at the Panari AUKE GBV National conference and we had a chat when you told me what you do and got very interested in the FGC/M case that happened in Marimanti area in Tharaka Nithi County. Four were not lucky enough to escape therefore underwent the ritual but we were able to rescue three others and 11people were arrested and arraigned at the Marimanti Senior Principal Magistrate court. They denied the charges and were released on bond. There is a lot of fear that the case may have been interfered with by the area MCA who has family relationship with some of the perpetrators. Furthermore, because there is no rescue centre within the county, the Marimanti OCS made a very serious ommission by letting the victims go back to their families who happen to be the said perpetrators of the heinous act. So now what is going to happen? A gross interference with prosecution case, coverups and likelihood of witness intimidation. 2. Dear Lorna, Thanks for popping by Girls’ Globe! It looks like you would be a great fit for us – if you would be interested in blogging about motherhood, women’s rights, GBV etc. Let me know! Send an email to julia@girlsglobe.org with a draft post if you would like! You are more than welcome to repost on your own blog of course.

  3. Hello Kamande. I indeed received the sad comment above. Please get back to me I will visit the county myself together with a few more of my colleagues and we can see how we can go about future cases. Thank you for trying your best. Keep up the good work!
